Serdar Gülgün, art historian and Istanbul-based designer, imagines a collection of pedestals and lids: decorative pieces that blend ancient heritage with contemporary art de vivre. Embellished with symbols, each piece creates a bridge between the former Byzantine capital and French history. Handcrafted in centuries-old workshops in Istanbul, each object will develop a natural patina over time, echoing the richness of bygone centuries.
Evoking the opulence of the royal apartments at Versailles, especially those of the Petit Trianon, the French tassels reappear in this collection as refined nods to French elegance. Delicate and iconic, these ornaments embody the quiet sophistication of an art de vivre inherited from the grandeur of the 18th century. At the crossroads of past and present, these tassels become narrative objects, part decorative homage, part contemporary expression. The sculpted details recall those still admired today in the gilded salons of the château: a subtle echo of French history.
