The story behind Josephine

« These are my subjects. I try to make them happy. » This is what Joséphine Bonaparte said once about her plants. The future Empress, a passionate botanist, bought the Rueil Malmaison castle in 1799. Seduced by its surrounding landscape, she created a romantic garden blooming with flowers from around the world. This labyrinth of feminine sensitivity inspired the House to create its new candle.

Originally from Grasse and the son of a perfumer, Emmanuel Philip grew up surrounded by scents and raw materials that would nurture his passion. From an early age, he chose to follow this family legacy, devoting his life to the art of olfactory creation. Together with his wife, who is also a perfumer, he founded his own company, PCA, while collaborating with historic institutions such as Cire Trudon and Carrière Frères, where he places his expertise and sensitivity at the service of new creations.

Curious and rigorous, Emmanuel draws his inspiration from childhood memories, nature, and everyday experiences. He enjoys exploring contrasts and noble materials in search of a perfect balance between authenticity, modernity, and emotion. His work reflects both the French tradition of perfumery and a contemporary, refined, and sensory approach, giving life to unique and timeless creations.
