Françoise Louise de la Vallière was secretly in love with King Louis XIV, who made her one of his favourites. She bore him four children in the utmost secrecy. She crowded her bed with tuberoses to quell the queen's suspicions “...by inhaling these scents that were so dangerous to her condition, she thought she was risking her life, but she hoped to save her honour”... (excerpted from "La Duchesse de Lavallière" by Stéphanie Félicité de Genlis). Abandoned for Athénaïs de Montespan who took her place in the king's heart, she retired to Carmel and became “Sister Louise of Mercy”.

Candle anatomy

The Wick
is made of cotton. One can find many types of wicks, characterized by their weaving and their diameter. The wicks are chosen depending on the shape and size of the glasses, as well as the burning characteristics of each candle.
The Wax
is the fruit of specific developments which are the source of the candle exceptional olfactory and burning qualities. When correctly taken care of, no smoke leaves a Trudon candle and no wax is left on the sides of the glass.
The Emblem
is inspired by a bas relief found at the old Royal Wax Manufacture which used to belong to the Trudon family. Situated in Antony, near Paris, it now belongs to the Church. Nowadays the domain hosts the nuns of the Saint-Joseph de Cluny congregation.
The Glass
is unique and hand-crafted in Tuscany. Its shape is inspired by champagne buckets.
