The wax used in the Antony factory came from Orleans and Brittany in the 1720s and from Normandy in the 1730s. In the 1750s, some was imported from Holland, Germany and the Levant (today’s Middle East). The Normandy sources were eventually replaced by wax from the Auvergne region. Photo Dimitri Smilenko
